In 1987, our founding partner, Asher Teper, purchased the Hendon veterinary practice and, together with David Fluss in Watford, created the Medivet Group. John Gladstone joined as the third partner the following year to take charge of the newly-purchased Finchley branch, before moving to our Enfield branch some time later. In 1989, we established our first start-up at Mill Hill, run by Richard Leonard, our fourth partner who then moved to the Hendon branch in 1991. Arnold Levy joined in 1990, when the Kingsbury practice became part of our family.
From small beginnings and over nearly 30 years, Medivet has grown steadily. We now have over 100 practices, from Hertfordshire to Lincolnshire, Essex to Oxfordshire and Norfolk to London. Our family has also recently grown in Dorset to the south, and north into Liverpool, Telford and Wigan.
In 2003, our administration had vastly outgrown its original centre in Hendon and we moved to a much larger Support Centre operational hub in Watford. This afforded space for management, support and maintenance services, storage, and the deliver y of training for both vets and nurses - the latter through our sister organisation, Medivet Training College.
At the start of 2014, the Medivet Partnership employed around 800 family members. We’re an Investors In People organisation and are committed to the support and development of all our members. Through our tiered partnership structure, vets who enter the partnership have the opportunity to progress within Medivet and become involved in the running of the entire group. Our growth is fuelled by vets and our group is run by vets– our profession is at the heart of all we do.
