Medivet Support Centre
Arnold Levy - Managing Senior Partner and Head of Acquisitions & Finance
I joined Medivet in 1990 as the vet at our Kingsbury branch and I became increasingly involved in the management of the group, then moved to our headquarters in Watford in 2002 after which I practiced part-time until I ultimately withdrew from clinical practice in 2010. My role includes oversight of our partnership, management of our finances and legal affairs and securing new branches and partners. I am also responsible for planning and supervising our building and maintenance programmes. I am married with 2 children, 2 dogs and a very large number of shrubs, vegetables and flowers (I am a keen gardener!).
John Smithers - Senior Partner and Head of Practice & Partnership Development
I joined Medivet in 1994 and, after a short period of time as a floating vet, joined the Hampstead Garden Suburb practice as one of Medivet's first branch partners. I thoroughly enjoyed helping to develop this practice into the flagship it is today and many of the clients became personal friends. In 1999, after a short absence from Medivet, I joined the central partnership and moved into a practice development role, helping with the acquisition and setting up of new practices. I travel extensively across the group and no day is ever the same. I oversee Medivet's MRI facility in Hendon.
Erwin Hohn - Senior Partner, Head of Marketing & Organisational Development and College Principal
I have experience in both small and large animal practice, university lecturing and have headed multidisciplinary teams in community development projects. I have worked internationally for a large multinational pharmaceutical company and as a consultant. I joined Medivet as head of marketing in 2005 and became a senior partner about one year later. I sit on committees responsible for the partnership’s strategy & planning, marketing, HR and I also serve on the operations team as well as having responsibilities for staff training and the Medivet Training College.
Kevin Morris - Senior Partner and Head of Operations
I joined Medivet in 1999 as an assistant vet at our Kingsbury branch. In 2003 I became a Partner in the Kingsbury branch where alongside the veterinary work which I very much enjoyed, I became involved in various management aspects of Medivet. In 2006 I joined the Central Partnership and moved to the Support Centre in a full time management role.
Daniel Preter - Senior Partner and Head of Vet Recruitment & Vet Mentorship
I was born and raised in Munich, Germany. I went to vet school there and completed a doctorate in Experimental Surgery afterwards. I arrived in England in 1997 and worked as a locum at the PDSA before starting my position in Medivet. I started as a floating vet, but was offered my own branch, Medivet Kenton, after 4 months. I later bought the practice as a partner and then became a senior partner in 2007. In 2009, I left the Kenton practice to work at the Support Centre. I look mainly after vet recruitment and the running of our buddy system for newly employed vets within the group. I also help manage Medivet Hendon and Dalston.
Adi Nell - Senior Partner and Head of Professional Relations
I graduated in 1992 and gained my Certificate in Veterinary Dermatology in 1998. I have worked as an assistant, locummed for over five years and ran a dermatology referral practice. I was the Resident in Dermatology at the Animal Health Trust and spent time at Cambridge Vet School, too. I joined Medivet in 2002 as a Partner in Hayes, and moved into the senior partnership later that year. I am very active in representing Medivet to the wider profession and have served on BVA Committees and as President of the Society of Practising Veterinary Surgeons.
Dr Guy Carter - Senior Partner, Head of Watford Region and Senior Project Manager
I love animals and have always wanted to be a vet. Soon after qualifying in South Africa I was drafted into 2 years of military service. Upon completing the Army Officer's course I was seconded to Zululand where I oversaw the health of the National cattle herd in an area the size of Wales! In particular, I was privileged to be responsible for Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini's Nguni cattle herd. Following this, I enjoyed travelling around the UK, working in both small and large animal surgeries, before joining Medivet. I am married with two children and two dogs - Dixie, a Border Terrier, and Wallis, a Rhodesian Ridgeback. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, skiing and reading. One of my most memorable experiences was standing on top of Mount Kilimanjaro in February 2010.
Jan Doedens - Senior Partner, Head of South West London Region and Senior Project Manager
I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. I graduated from Onderstepoort Veterinary School in 1989. In 1995 I started to work at DNA Veterinary Group in south west London, the group then joined the Medivet Partnership in 2000.
Gareth Richardson - Senior Partner and Head of Essex Region
I joined Medivet in 2003 and became a partner in the Southend practice soon afterwards. Since 2009, I have been a senior partner and have managed the Southend region. I have slowly reduced my clinical work to concentrate on strategic clinical aspects for the group, as well as managerial duties, and I am enjoying all the challenges that this brings. I have a dog, a cat and a young child at home, and enjoy the outdoors, wildlife, off roading and martial arts in my spare time.
