What is PawBakes?
PawBakes is the brainchild of three best friends, Chloe, Lauren and Jacquelyn who met in 2011 on their very first day at university. Since then, all three girls have been joined at the hip and together, they recognised that the nation shared their love for pets and a passion for baking.
The girls got straight to work on their bake your own pet treat kits and entered the University of Hertfordshire’s Business Start-Up competition, proudly winning the title of ‘Most Innovative Business Idea’.
There are currently two types of kit available: 1) peanut butter and honey biscuit bones and 2) peanut butter cupcakes with choc icing (the chocolate icing is dog safe!). Both have completely recognisable ingredient lists and have had that all-important approval from the PawBakes taste testers!
We were extremely lucky to receive a sample of the peanut butter and honey biscuit recipe, so we thought we would share our experience with you to show you just how fun and easy they are to make!
The kit includes:
We began by firstly pre-heating the oven to gas mark 4 and pouring the peanut butter and honey biscuit mix into a large mixing bowl. We also scooped a heaped teaspoon out of the mix and set it aside for later (this was used for dusting the rolling pin and board).
We then added five tablespoons of warm water (75ml) to the mix.
And kneaded the mixture until it formed a soft and gooey dough.
We then left the dough to set for ten minutes...
After ten minutes, we then used the rolling pin to roll out the mix evenly, making sure the dough was at least half a centimeter thick.
We then used the bone-shaped cutter to cut out ten shapes.
We then placed the shapes onto a greaseproof baking tray and popped them into our pre-heated oven to cook for approximately18-20 minutes.
Once golden brown, we took the biscuits out of the oven for a few minutes, and then moved them onto a cooling rack to go cold.
Tongues at the ready, it was time to call the judges over for a taste test!
Their final verdict… Mmmmmm tasty! We will certainly be purchasing our own kits when they become available!
Voila! There you have it! Delicious, wholesome goodness for your beloved pooch in under half an hour! You don’t have to be an experienced baker to use PawBakes – we certainly aren’t pros ourselves!
PawBakes will be coming to stores very soon, so if you do not manage to win your own kit, you can meet the wonderful creators of PawBakes at the upcoming All About Dogs Show in Suffolk on the 27th and 28th March 2016 for their official product launch.
Happy baking guys! Winners be sure to tweet a photo of your creations mentioning @PawBakes and @Medivet_UK or post them on Instagram using the hashtags #PawBakes and #Medivet.
