Andy Buchan - Branch Partner and Veterinary Surgeon
I joined Heathlands in April 2012 and became a partner in the practice later the same year. I have spent most of my career working in small animal practice in Devon before choosing Heathlands as my professional home. My passion is surgery and in 2011 obtained the RCVS Certificate in small animal surgery (CertSAS) after four years of study. Areas of interest include soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, pain management and more recently MRI imaging. In my spare time I love to spend time with my children and still greatly miss my days on the rugby pitch.
Holly Smith – Head Veterinary Nurse
I studied at Lynwood School of Veterinary Nursing and qualified in 2014 with a Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing. Before joining Medivet, I worked at an animal rescue centre for five years and also worked on a farm milking the cows. I enjoy working with orthopaedic surgeons in the theatre and am interested in intensive care as well as nursing consults. At home I have a three-year-old Springer called Aussie, 16 chickens, a horse named Alfie Moon, 2 goats called Marmite and Toast and a cat named Minow. In my spare time I enjoy walking the dog and horse riding.
Vicki Baber – Client Care Assistant
I have been working at Medivet since 2004. Before joining the Medivet family, I worked in administration. I enjoy being part of a team that helps animals and I enjoy sorting out pet insurance. At home I have two St. Bernards and two cats. I used to show my dogs all over the country, including many times at Crufts. In my spare time, I enjoy walking my dogs, watching crime or animal related TV programmes and visiting animal and wildlife parks. I really enjoy building a rapport with clients and their pets and aim to make their visits as happy as possible.
Elspeth Elliot (Elz) – Client Care Assistant
I have worked for Medivet since 2012, prior to this I worked as a groom at a riding school and in sales at Scats Country Stores. I hold a certificate in veterinary practice administration and really enjoy working on reception, doing the admin and meeting people and their pets! I work mainly at the Wool branch but also cover at Littlemoor from time to time. I have a springer X called Farley, a cat called Casper, tropical fish and two mischievous rabbits - and would have more pets if I could! I live with my husband and son, outside of work we enjoy walks on the beach, fishing, kayaking, camping and a lot more!
