Kathryn Stevenson - Veterinary SurgeonKathryn Stevenson - Partner & Veterinary Surgeon

I am originally from a small town called Newmilns in East Ayrshire, Scotland. I graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 2005 and spent a few months travelling up the East Coast of Australia before starting my first job in a small animal hospital on the outskirts of Bradford in West Yorkshire. I had a lot of great experiences there including adopting my dog, Bailey and my cat, Guinness (my furry children). In 2007 I moved south to sunny Southend-on-sea, to work in a local Small Animal Hospital and liked it so much I stayed for over seven years. During this time I attained my General Practitioner's Certificate in Endoscopy and Endosurgery and started working towards my Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice, focusing on small animal surgery, which I hope to have completed by the end of 2016. I never lost the travelling bug and in 2013 my partner and I headed off on a round-the-world trip, visiting South East Asia, Australia, New Zealand and North America before coming back to settle in Southend. I've been working at Medivet Southend since September 2014 and loved it so much I became Partner in February 2015. In my spare time I enjoy running, and Bailey & I are registered volunteers are Pets As Therapy!

Oliver Duprey - VetOliver Duprey – Partner & Veterinary Surgeon

I originally grew up in Southend and moved to London where I studied and qualified at the University College London with a BSc (Honours). After this, I worked as a zookeeper, looking after bears, hippos and camels. I then studied at the Royal Veterinary College where I gained a distinction and honours in BVetMed and also acquired MRCVS status. Before joining Medivet, I worked across London in small animal veterinary practices, both in hospital and general clinic settings. I am particularly interested in all aspects of medicine and have a particular love for endocrine disorders.

At home, I have a rescue cat from a previous practice that had been involved in a road traffic accident. She happened to be pregnant, so I adopted her son too! Outside of work, I enjoy rock-climbing across the world, from the Alps to the Peak District. I am currently studying for a certificate in small animal medicine in order to gain advanced practitioner status in this area. I thoroughly enjoy working at the Southend hospital because we have a great team of vets, nurses and client care professionals, as well as cutting-edge equipment at our disposal, meaning we can deliver a gold-standard level of care to our patients and clients.
