Partner and Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified from Liverpool Vet School in 1996 and worked in various practices in Yorkshire and London before settling at West Kingsdown in 2013. I decided to become a vet at a very young age and pursued my dream relentlessly! I enjoy all aspects of the job but have a particular interest in soft tissue surgery. Outside of work I enjoy running and have completed several half marathons for charity. I also love cooking and travelling. In my spare time I volunteer with a wonderful charity called Streetvet which brings free veterinary care to the pets of the homeless. I’ve been married nearly 20 years and have twin teenagers and 2 tabby cats.

I'm the newest vet to join the team, officially starting in February 2023, but have been working for Medivet ever since graduating from Bristol University in 2021. My favourite thing about being a vet is performing surgeries. I love cats and often foster cats and kittens to socialise them before they find their forever homes. My hobbies include figure skating and other winter sports like skiing.

Deputy Head Veterinary Nurse

I am the Deputy Head Veterinary Nurse here at West Kingsdown. I have worked in the veterinary industry since I was 16, starting off as a Kennel Assistant working my way up to qualify as an RVN. I was a Patient Care Assistant then a Student Veterinary Nurse, with Medivet West Kingsdown being the branch I trained at. I am a clinical coach meaning I am also qualified to help our student veterinary nurses become RVNs, helping them through their training and supporting them in practice. I have a keen interest in nurse clinics so I love seeing all your friendly faces and of course your beautiful pets! In the future, I’d love to complete a certificate in anaesthesia to develop my understanding more as it’s an area of nursing that I’m passionate about. I am also part of a flyball team. I regularly train to compete with Lottie who is one of my two greyhound crossbreeds. Both Lottie and Louie were rescued as puppies in a very broken and poorly state. At home, I also have a Cornish Rex called Mia and Socks who is a ginger moggy.

I am a second year Veterinary Nurse student. I have known since I was young that I wanted to work with animals, and I am so glad to get the opportunity to work with the team at Medivet West Kingsdown. My favourite part of nursing is anaesthesia, I am hoping when I am qualified to look into extra certificates into surgical nursing. At home I have a staffy called Disney who I rescued back in 2015 and my very own naughty tortie Nutmeg, who I fostered last year and she never left!

I also hold a teaching qualification and assist with the training of our student Veterinary Nurses which I thoroughly enjoy. I am currently studying towards a Certificate in Feline Nursing. I have keen interests in emergency nursing, anaesthesia and radiography and hope to pursue further education in these areas in the future. I am married to my husband Adrian and have a daughter, Isla, who was born in 2021. I own 3 cats, Desmond, Pete and Cilla who are all rescue cats. Outside of work I enjoy baking, travelling and spending time with my family.

Patient Care Assistant

I am the new Patient Care Assistant here at West Kingsdown, soon hoping to become a fellow Student Vet Nurse. I’ve always had such a strong passion and love for animals since I was little and my many many many pets over the years prove that. I have done a lot of work at rescue centres and studied level 2 Animal Management at College. I love coming home from work and either hanging out and playing with my doggos or playing some video games with my friends. I am very active and love going out and spending time with friends and family whilst also appreciating a nice quiet night in when needed. I currently have two dogs, Chewbacca (Brussels Griffon) and Bob Marley (Yorkshire Terrier) as well as a cat called Narla and my personal favourite, my snake called Noodle (Western Hognose).

** AVOID** incompetent vets and only want your money. Senior vet Nicola issued steroids for eye ulcer on my dog which resulted him having a double perforated eye and surgeries to save his eyes and vision. I visited the practice frequently as my dogs eye was not getting any better until the 5th of November my dogs eye popped and resulted in being sent to Canterbury. I was advised by the ophthalmologist vet who saved my dogs eyes, reported that steroids should never been issued for eyes and had resulted in melted corneas. To add insult to injury Nicola then proceeded to try and claim on my insurance for the privilege of nearly making my dog blind. I challenged the bill frequently and was advised I would have a call to discuss, this never happened and they then sent it to debt collectors. I would have paid the bill, but not for steroids that a vet should have not issue They are a scamming practice, I even cancelled my flea and worm treatment and they tried to take money from my bank account without my consent. The stress, financial strain due to my insurance limit being reached due to frequent visits to the vet's. The only thing going for this practice is Emma who rushed the referral to eye vet.

Always time, care, attention and the welfare of the animals put first…..money a very distant second. Having experienced others in the area, Medivet WK is heads and shoulders ahead.
