Veterinary Surgeons

Alex McVeyAlex McVey – Mobile Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified from the University of Liverpool in 2016 with BVSc and became a MRCVS that same day. Before joining Medivet, I was lucky enough to finish off my University life by travelling to San Francisco for three weeks as my elective. It was a great trip and I have brought back a lot of information which I hope to use in practice here in the UK. I enjoy all parts of veterinary work but my special interests lie within internal medicine, cardiology and anaesthesia. I have several hobbies outside of work including football (especially Liverpool FC), cricket, running and I especially enjoy music and live concerts.

Sarah TelfordSarah Telford – Mobile Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified from the University of Liverpool in July 2016, where I attained a BVSc and became MRCVS in July 2016. Before joining Medivet, I had been studying at University and also spent three weeks in San Francisco, in a small animal referral hospital, to further my knowledge abroad. My interests lie within internal medicine and cardiology, and I would like to start a certificate in one if these areas. In my spare time I help look after my parent’s two dogs; a lively black Cocker Spaniel and a sensible old Mongrel. Outside of work I enjoy yoga, hill walking and do horse riding when I can, as well as watching live music and going to the theatre.

I studied at the University of Liverpool, achieving a 2:1 in Geography. I also obtained a Distinction in my Level Two Veterinary Care Assisting qualification. Before joining Medivet, I worked as a receptionist at PDSA Huyton, which is where I was inspired to work on my VCA qualification a year later. My main area of interest lies with emergency critical care nursing. At home I have a five year old rescue dog called Pancake. When I’m not working I love to spend time with my friends and family, binge watch TV shows, take walks in the park with Pancake and eating! I can’t wait to start my new career at Medivet.

Rachel Pilling – Mobile Patient Care Assistant

Rachel PillingI have a Level Three National Diploma in Animal Management as well as a FdSc in Zoo Resource Management. Before joining Medivet, I worked in a safari park for eight years, managing the hoofstock section, antelopes and carnivores. I have a keen interest in animal health, welfare and wildlife conservation, and this interest urged me to pursue a career as an RVN. At home I have a mini zoo! I have two rescued rabbits called Ralphie and Lily, a rescue cat called Fernando, two dogs called Enrique and Benji, and a Milksnake called Tinkerbell. In my spare time I love taking care of my pets, especially walking my dogs. I also love to travel and do volunteer conservation work.

I have a degree in Zoology, I graduated in July 2015 and studied at Salford University. Before joining Medivet, I was mainly a student but had a part time job in a local pub. As I am quite new to the field I enjoy all aspects of the job, especially being able to take care of the animals in each practice. At home I have a pet dog, he is a Newfoundland called Sanchez. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, going to concerts, watching films and of course walking my dog.
