Gerhard Retief - Partner and Veterinary Surgeon
I qualified at Onderstepoorte (South Africa) in 1989 and, among other jobs, I worked as a state veterinarian of the former republic of Venda. I left my partnership at the Helderberg Veterinary Hospital in Somerset West and came to England in December 2000. I joined Medivet in July 2003 and became branch partner at Norwich Thorpe a year and a half later. I am married with two children and have a border terrier, 5 Cornish Rex cats and a rescue moggy.
Ivana Galletta - Veterinary Surgeon
I decided to be a vet when I was only 6 years old. Truly believing to be able to help animals, today I'm a qualified vet following my dream to do the best for my patients. We need to take the time to bond with our pets to really realise their wonderful character and how much they give us for only a cuddle.
Eva Markstein - Veterinary Surgeon
I graduated from Berlin University in May 2000. I spent a year at an equine clinic in Westphalia before concentrating my interest entirely on small animals. In the UK I worked for Liverpool University and 2 years in Lancashire. After a break for some travelling I did several years of locum work across the country and fell in love with Norfolk. And here I am now enjoying my work alongside a great team. My special interests are dentistry, anaesthesia and diagnostic imaging.
Linzi Cheung – Head Veterinary Nurse
I started working at the Catton branch in July 2011 where I successfully completed my nurse training and became a qualified veterinary nurse in May 2016. I have now moved to the Thorpe practice and become the head veterinary nurse. I enjoy assisting in theatre and nursing sick patients, but I am especially fond of working with small furries. I have a pet rabbit called Flopsy, and when I'm not at work, I spend my time relaxing with her and my husband.
Kelly Sutton – Student Veterinary Nurse
I have completed a level 2 dog grooming assistant programme as well as received my diploma in equine studies before joining the Medivet family. I previously worked as a Student Veterinary Nurse for 2 years before joining the team here at Medivet Thorpe. I have a special interest in animal behaviour. At home, I have a staffie called Dexter, a corn snake called Will and a leopard gecko called Nala. In my spare time I enjoy walking my dog, reading and being outdoors.
Sophia Wells - Patient Care Assistant
I joined Medivet in December 2013 and I am very excited to be starting college in September of this year to train as a Veterinary Nurse. My special interests are surgery and dog behaviour. At home, I have a 6 year old French Lop house rabbit called Milly.
