World Wildlife Conservation Day

Medivet has a longstanding partnership with Wilderness Foundation Africa - providing critical funds to support conservation efforts on the ground.

It’s a calm night, the stars are out, and the moon is bright, a beautiful night for most…. but a shot rings out and another baby rhino is orphaned. Why? For what? And more importantly what can we do about it?

That’s where Medivet come in, our clients, our colleagues and our resources. Medivet has a longstanding partnership with Wilderness Foundation Africa - providing critical funds to support conservation efforts on the ground.

We’ve funded and built rehabilitation and orphanage facilities for rhinos, contributed and donated field equipment including lab machines and x-ray equipment. We’ve funded and helped train anti-poaching teams, and their lovely long-range tracking dogs. Contributed to International education projects aimed at reducing international wildlife trade, crime and trafficking. Our community outreach programmes have improved the care and health of not only their animals but the livelihoods of the people living in rural villages.

“The plight of the Rhino is truly sad, but how does that affect me and my nearest and dearest?” I hear you say. This is the key for us all to understand, the rhino is the headline act, the icon if you like, but the efforts of conservation are not siloed, and our efforts are not limited to just one species.

Our project focuses on One Health, which is an approach that aims to sustainably balance and optimise the health of people, animals and ecosystems. What we and our clients contribute to builds ecosystems that rewild large swaths of poorly managed land to provide sources of habitats and large carbon sequestration projects, contributing to reducing global net carbon build up. It’s not just about an animal, it’s about all of us doing our bit for our environment, even if it is thousands of miles away.

However, thinking a little closer to home too, we now also support Wilderness Foundation UK; their mission is to change lives through outreach programmes that educate, inspire and reconnect people facing a number of challenges in their lives.

Wildlife Conservation Day is something that is very close to our hearts here at Medivet and our support wouldn’t be possible without our clients. Your donations help us to make a huge difference and on Wildlife Conservation Day 2023, we want to say a heartfelt thanks.
